Nuts, previously unreleased mixes of "Blue Monday" found on old master tapes from back in the day. Sound Metaphors release.
“Surf synth acid dancehall rock!!” is how Jackson Bailey aka Tapes/Rezzett describes the A-side of this new release from Osaka’s 7FO. This 7-inch single, marking 7FO’s return to EM Records, is an homage to both the vinyl single format itself and also to the legendary producer Joe Meek. “Healing Sword” is the first time 7FO has created a track expressly as a single. On the flip side, “Snake (Live)” is a dubby lo-fi mono travelogue.ヒーリング剣 (Healing Sword) by 7FO
Tribal Earth is an ongoing project created by Canadian artist Michael Bennett. This 1983 recording “Interaction/Reaction'' features a fusion of post-punk, DIY mutant wave and minimal synth-pop that is backed by infectious funk and dub elements alongside Linn Drum machine rhythms. Heavy basslines and synths swirl, stab, and ring alongside Bennett’s smooth vocal delivery into 3 timeless art-avant pop gems. This 40th anniversary edition is remastered directly from the master tapes and is a collaboration between Invisible City Editions and Michael Bennett. For fans of 99 Records, This Heat, and Lifetones. An underrated one of a kind IC fave. Limited Pressing.
Official reissue of sought-after Haruomi Hosono-produced Interior self-titled debut, originally released in 1982 on legendary label Yen Records.Interior is Daisuke Hinata, Eiki Nonaka, Mitsuru Sawamura, and Tsukasa Betto. Their classic 1982 debut, produced by Yellow Magic Orchestra's Haruomi Hosono, is one of a kind - a very rare breed of feel-good ambient music blending instrumental synth-pop, soft electronic minimalism, and cosy sound design in the most heartwarming ways. It evokes the intimate pleasures of daydreaming in a hotel lobby, holding hands in a museum, or napping by the pool. It depicts the urban landscape as a caring environment, where simplicity and repetition is mind soothing and smile inducing.
***2023 repress*** Debut album of Gaussian Curve, a collaboration between Italian ambient pioneer Gigi Masin, Melody As Truth's Jonny Nash & Young Marco. Each of them established in their own rights, the three musicians from Italy, UK and the Netherlands, came together during a weekend long recording session in April of this year. Without preconceived ideas and developed around often purely intuitive improvised jams, the eight tracks on the album are all 'one take' live recordings. With Gigi Masin on Rhodes and piano, Jonny Nash on guitar, melodica, synths and trumpet and Marco Sterk on synths, rhythmic structures and production duties, the three of them succeed in developing a musical language all of their own. Recorded in the heart of Amsterdam's Red Light district, the album reflects the unusually warm Spring and the buzz from the open windows that filled the derelict downtown studio space during that particular weekend. Whilst on the more introvert late night compositions the music quietly soars, reflecting the brooding melancholy of an evening in that particular part of the city.
Next in the Melodies Record Club series... 2 staples of Ben UFO's DJ sets over the years - on side A “Drums” from Laurie Spiegel’s 1980 experimental electronic album “The Expanding Universe”, a percussive seven minute computer generated workout inspired by Laurie’s interest in African and Indian music. On the flip, a track by Olof Dreijer from the Swedish band the Knife, previously only released on CD. A contemporary piece more clearly indebted to house music, Olof built the track around arpeggios generated using sounds of frogs he recorded in the Amazon and birds around Berlin, fed into a sampler.
