DESERT ISLAND DISC. Zero gravity blues, floating in a space between Steve Miller, The Beach Boys & Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks soundtrack.
Available outside of Japan for the first time in 36 years. Such a beautiful album and highly sought-after until this reissue. Very little is known of Down On The Road's unfathomable genesis. A budding musician who established himself as a fashion photographer, Hiett flew to Tokyo on the understanding that he was checking proofs for a book, only to be surprised by a CBS/Sony recording contract, studio time and a band of session musicians known as Moonriders. Boiled under pressure, their transportive audio portraits amplify his serpentine guitar and zero gravity blues to the infinite blue, floating in a space between The Durutti Column, Steve Cropper and Ashra.
Gatefold sleeve with 16-page booklet of liner notes and photography. Restored from original masters. Definitive reissue licensed from Sony UK.
