Where the album is focussed on some of Theo’s deadliest grooves, this 7” plays it down and vocal-led, prepping the ‘floor for a proper session. ‘Free Myself’ works traces of percussion in the background, gently propelling Maurissa Rose’s jazz-soul ache and looped counterpoint against padded bassline and keys to stealthily raise the spirits, before ploughing a heavy bloozy groove of woodcut bass and electric guitar with Maurissa in full flight on ‘The Truth’.
